Discover Eco Friendly Floral Arrangements at Bobo's Flowers

At Bobo’s we are passionate about sustainability. We have noticed a lot of wastage occurs in the industry, whether it be floral foam that can’t be recycled, excessive use of cellophane wrap to make bouquets look larger than life, or fancy plastic ribbons that get binned.

We might be a little bit more dear than other florists but hopefully knowing your gift of love is not going to hang around on earth longer than you, will support guilt-free, eco-conscious gifting.

Where possible, we aim to engage in eco-friendly practices including:

🌷Avoiding the use of floral foam – most floral foam is single-use, non-recyclable and often shortens flower life. Hello vase arrangements!

🌷Reducing use of wrapping products – reducing excessive use of cellophane or plastic wraps and using recyclable paper, compostable fabrics, or biodegradable wraps as alternatives where possible.

🌷Choosing more eco-friendly ribbon – using sustainable ribbon options such as cotton, biodegradable satin, recycled PET cotton, and jute.

🌷Recycling/reusing soft plastics – most floral material comes packaged in plastic or cardboard from wholesalers at the market. Where possible, soft plastics are recycled through a local recycling system and/or reused as wet wrap packaging. Cardboard is recycled and/or reused for other projects.

🌷Supporting local growers – did you know that approximately 50% of the flowers sold in Australia are imported? Supporting local growers (mostly based in NSW, VIC and QLD) reduces the need to transport flowers huge distances, saving on the environmental impacts of long-distance travel (think international flights) and cost of freight. Helping the local economy - flowers are often fresher and last longer too! Win-win.

🌷Designing with seasons in mind – where possible, designing arrangements based on seasonal flowers to minimise imports and lower the environmental impact. When flowers are in season locally, they’re fresher and there’s more colours to choose from.
